Course Summary and Schedule
This highly acclaimed course provides a comprehensive review of pediatric dentistry. It may be helpful to AAPD members in their preparation for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) examinations, although participation in this course does not guarantee successful completion of board exams. The curriculum is also designed to serve as a comprehensive and in-depth review of pediatric dentistry to those attendees who may be either board certified already or not planning on taking the exam. Topics to be discussed include Growth and Development, Assessment and Prevention, Oral pathology, Care for Special Needs Patients, Restorative Dentistry and Materials, Trauma, Behavior Management and Pulp Therapy. Upon completion of this course, the participant should have a better understanding of the:- Major clinical areas of pediatric dentistry.

Speakers
Faculty: Kevin J. Donly, D.D.S. is currently a Professor and Chair in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received his D.D.S. in 1984, Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 1986, and M.S. in 1986 from the University of Iowa. Catherine M. Flaitz, D.D.S., M.S., is professor of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and adjunct faculty of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Flaitz earned her dental degree from Creighton University and received specialty certification and a Master of Science degree in pediatric dentistry and oral and maxillofacial pathology from The University of Iowa. Constance M. Killian, D.M.D., is currently in Private Practice of Pediatric Dentistry in Doylestown, Pa. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania and a Clinical Affiliate at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Killian received her dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Andrew L. Sonis, D.M.D., is a clinical professor of Developmental Biology, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Senior Associate in Pediatric Dentistry at Children’s Hospital, Boston. Sonis received his dental degree from Tufts University, pediatric dentistry specialty training at Harvard / Children’s Hospital, Boston and orthodontic training and Boston University.Hotel and Travel
